Katie Montana Hackney is a native of Charleston, West Virginia. She graduated from West Virginia University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and began her career with Highland Hospital the very next day. While working full-time as a case manager and psychometrician, Katie obtained her Master of Arts in psychology from Marshall University in 2016. Katie has served in various roles at Highland Hospital, including case management, therapy, psychometrics, therapy supervision, program management, and clinical director. She was appointed as Chief Operating Officer in January 2025. Katie loves West Virginia with her entire heart and soul. Her passion is ensuring the deliverance of quality care to all who seek help. She enjoys traveling, the outdoors, fishing, her pet horses, dog, and cat, Mountaineer football, and her family.

Veronica Marin joined Highland as the Chief Financial Officer in December 2021 and has more than 16 years of experience in healthcare finance and administration. Veronica is originally from Phoenix, Arizona, and earned her Bachelors of Business Administration from Western New Mexico University in May 2000 and her Masters of Business Administration in May 2002, also from Western New Mexico University. Veronica later went on to earn her Masters in Accountancy in May 2009 from Arizona State University. Prior to joining the Highland team, she worked in finance and administrative roles at four different healthcare facilities across the country. Veronica, her husband, Chris, and their three children, Kaitlyn, Korri and CJ, currently reside in Charleston and enjoy the outdoors, sports, art/music, family, and traveling in their free time.

Amy Stricker joined Highland Hospital as the Director of Human Resources in September 2020. She brings over 15 years of HR experience and 29 years of corporate expertise. Prior to joining Highland, Amy served as the Director of HR and Payroll Manager at A Brighter Avenue in Arizona, a Senior Benefits Analyst at Riverside Health Systems in Virginia, and a Senior HR Generalist and Payroll Manager at USI in Virginia.

Amy holds both a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) from American Public University in Charles Town, West Virginia, as well as an undergraduate degree from the University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia. She also maintains a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.

With her spouse retired from the military, Amy has had the opportunity to live across the United States, with Hawaii being her favorite assignment. She now resides on a beautiful farm with her family and various animals, embracing a peaceful country lifestyle.

Mary Jarrett was born in Prince George’s County, Maryland, but she moved to Charleston, West Virginia as a child. She is a proud mother of three and has one beautiful granddaughter, who holds the key to her heart. Mary earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Capella University and has dedicated the past twenty-five years to revenue management and communication with insurance companies. She is passionate about helping others and advocates for the importance of treatment. In her personal life, Mary enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She has a strong passion for travel, which is one of her main interests. Mary is always seeking opportunities to expand her knowledge and develop her skills. Currently, her primary goal is to complete the Counseling Program at Marshall University.

Charlotte is a West Virginia native. With more than 12 years of experience, Charlotte, possess a deep understanding in both the clinical and administrative aspects of mental health care. Charlotte earned her Masters of Forensic Psychology in August 2019, Bachelors of Social Work in May 2014, and also holds licensure in Social Work. Charlotte joined the highland team in June 2019 and has held various roles since. Charlotte enjoys being outdoors, spending time with her husband and dogs, reading, and mostly traveling in her spare time.

Chad Clagg is a WV native. He attended Marshall University and obtained his Bachelors in Psychology and later obtained his Masters of Health Administration from Ohio University. Chad has over 20 years of experience working in the WV behavioral health system. He spent the past 16 years with St. Mary’s Medical Center, primarily overseeing their behavioral health admissions and discharge planning. Chad joined Highland Hospital as the Intake Director in September 2021. He enjoys spending time with his family and dogs, traveling, and the outdoors.

Gerald Bragg has worked at Highland Hospital for 22 years. He worked as an LPN for 15 years, and then became the EHR Clinical Liaison, training staff and supporting documentation software. In 2022, he became Highland’s Performance Improvement Coordinator, working with regulatory services. He is excited to be stepping into his new role as Quality/Risk Manager. Gerald says there is something truly special about Highland Hospital and enjoys helping patients get back on their feet during a difficult time. Gerald is looking forward to his continued work in guiding and providing excellent care for the community we serve!
